Why do you believe the star student athlete should be recognized?

Junior Avery Wessel saved the best for last this season on the court for Oak Lawn Community High School’s girls tennis team. She improved all season, and she excelled at the South Suburban Conference Red tournament. Paired up with partner Mia Wendt, the two made in-game adjustments and played well.

“Avery really came on at the end of the year, showing dramatic improvement,” head coach Dan Doyle said. “Her attitude, which was positive before, shone down the stretch. Several times, she saw clearly what was working and not working on the court and made the appropriate adjustment on the fly. In particular, she and her partner, Mia Wendt, showed a propensity to adapt their games to ensure success.”

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star student athlete?

Keep up the great work, Avery Wessell!
