Whose sewer is this?
A Bridgeview sewer always floods, but no one accepts responsibility for it.
At approximately 7728 S. Harlem Avenue in Bridgeview, there is a sewer that backs up with every rainfall. Look at the picture, and notice how deep and wide it gets, making the use of this side road unsafe.
This has been reported more than once to the town's administration. Bridgeview's mayor, Steven Landek, upon his investigation, learned that the sewer does not belong to the town. When it was determined who owns or controls the sewer, town officials reportedly contacted them, and they reportedly did not respond.
It is a paradox that more has not been done about this sewer and its constant flooding. After all, it is having an impact on property that belongs to the town, not to mention property that is privately owned. Whoever owns this sewer, they must be held responsible for all damages and code violations by their poor management of this sewer. It is time for the mayor and the trustees to put their feet down and make the owner of the sewer repair it so that it will not flood--or face legal action.
