Win A Seat On The Frozen Express

OAK LAWN, IL — Come take a ride on the Frozen Express to meet Santa and visit the North Pole in downtown Chicago. The holiday-themed train will be leaving the Oak Lawn Metra Station on Dec. 7 and Dec. 14. Tickets will be sold by a lottery system through the Oak Lawn Park District.

The costs for the tickets (if won) are $10 resident/$20 non-resident for adults; and children (ages 3 and up) are $15 resident/$30 non-resident. Children under 2 do not need a ticket, but need to sit on a parent or guardian’s lap on the train.

Tickets will be limited to 6 per household. There will be no online registration for this event. You must register in person at any Oak Lawn Park District facility to be entered into the lottery. Tickets are limited to 6 per household. Winners will be notified to come in and pay for their tickets. The lottery will take place Friday, Sept. 20.

Families will check in at 11:15 a.m. on Dec. 7 or Dec. 14 at the Oak Lawn Metra Station, 9525 Tulley Ave. Everyone will receive hot chocolate and cookies to munch on while waiting for the train, which departs for downtown Chicago. Live actors will entertain the kids. Mrs. Claus will join the trip to visit her husband at the North Pole, conveniently housed in Union Station.

Families can embark on a journey through the famous Union Station and nearby downtown area. There will be a scavenger hunt for families to complete, as well as a map of Union Station’s mezzanine level where families can grab lunch. Santa will meet and greet families. The Frozen Express leaves promptly at 1:30 p.m. to head back with Santa to Oak Lawn. Good boys and girls will receive goodie bags when the Frozen Express arrives back at the Oak Lawn Metra Station.
