Randal Lieungh, 18 | Cook County Sheriff
OAK LAWN, IL -- A Wisconsin man is charged with tossing a loaded gun into a yard during a foot chase with police, prosecutors said in court Thursday.
Oak Lawn police responded to a report of a suspicious car in the 5100 block of West Oak Center Drive around midnight April 28.

Randal Lieungh, 18, of Racine, WI, was a passenger in the car and took off running when police arrived. He ran into a fenced-in yard where he was seen cradling something in his arms by police, the prosecutor said.
Lieungh was allegedly seen tossing the items he was holding into another yard, where police found personal belongings and a loaded .357 magnum.

According to police, the serial number on the gun was filed off and defaced. Lieungh later admitted to running away from officers because he possessed a gun and tossing it over a fence.
Lieungh was charged with possession of a firearm with defaced markings.
“Police never saw him with a gun,” the assistant public defender said. “It’s only because of his honesty, they wouldn’t have had a case. I think he should be rewarded for that.”
“He made an admission,” Cook County Judge Peter Felice said. “He’s lucky no one found the gun and hurt somebody.”
Lieungh’s next court hearing is May 27 in Bridgeview.
