Woman Accused of Running Over Ex-Boyfriend's Hand With Car

Prosecutor said woman was giving ex-boyfriend a ride home from their daughter's school assembly when he took a call from his new girlfriend.

OAK LAWN, IL -- A Bolingbrook woman was arrested after she ran over her ex-boyfriend with her car, prosecutors said. Shelise Roberts, 45, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on a charge of aggravated domestic battery. Roberts and the man have a daughter in common.

According to the charges, Roberts was driving her daughter’s father home to Oak Lawn after attending their daughter’s school assembly in Bolingbrook on Dec. 12. During the ride, the prosecutor said the ex-boyfriend answered a call from his new girlfriend on his cell phone, upsetting Roberts, the prosecutor said.

When Roberts dropped her ex-boyfriend off at his house in the 9500 block of S. Kolin Avenue, the prosecutor said she backed up the car and drove into him. The prosecutor didn’t know if the man was taken to the hospital.

“He’s either a very big man or it’s a very small car,” Felice said.

The assistant public defender told the judge the ex-boyfriend was the aggressor. As they were arguing in the car, the man allegedly grabbed the steering wheel and tried to make the car crash.

Roberts was released on a $25,000 I-bond. The judge told her not to have any contact with her ex-boyfriend while the case was pending. Roberts is due back in court Jan. 9 in Bridgeview.
