BRIDGEVIEW, IL -- A 20-year-old Chicago woman filed a fake police report falsely accusing two people of robbing her with a crowbar, prosecutors said.

Nina Scavone appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on a felony charge of disorderly conduct.

Scavone claimed she had become lost while driving in the Bridgeview area and drove to the home of a friend on April 26.

When she stopped in front of her friend’s house, Scavone said she was approached by two people, one of whom was holding a crowbar. Scavone said the contents of her purse were taken by the two "offenders” who then drove away, Bridgeview police said.

Scavone allegedly told police that she followed the offenders’ car and called 911. The two people were stopped by police in the 8000 block of Roberts Road, where police said Scavone identified them as the "robbers."

According to police, Scavone’s story quickly began to unravel. She eventually admitted it was made up because she believed a friend of one of the accused had taken money from her the day before. Police said she knew all of the people involved.

Prosecutors said during a bond hearing on Wednesday that Scavone has a pending drug case.

“You’re lucky no one got hurt,” Cook County Judge Peter Felice said.

She was released on bond Wednesday.
