Woman Gives Cop Name of Deceased Sister to Conceal DUI Warrant: Police

Woman was in car stopped for traffic violation where crack-cocaine was recovered, prosecutors said.

A Beach Park woman gave an officer the name of her deceased sister during a traffic stop to conceal a DUI warrant, prosecutors said.

Stephanie Gay, 26, was in a car that was stopped for a traffic violation in the 4700 block of Southwest Highway around 5:34 p.m. Oct. 21.

When approaching the vehicle, prosecutors said that an Oak Lawn police officer noticed Gay concealing an item that turned out to be crack-cocaine.

Gay used the name of her deceased sister to hide her identity and a warrant for her arrest issued out of Skokie for DUI, prosecutors said.

She was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance, issuance of a warrant, obstructing identification and possession of drug equipment.

Bail was set at $20,000. The judge ordered Gay to wear an electronic bracelet if she bonds out.

Gay’s next court appearance is November 10 in Bridgeview.
