CHICAGO, IL -- A Worth man was arrested after he swiped a pair of shoes and was recognized as the individual wanted for punching an older woman on a CTA train, Chicago Police News Affairs said. Derrick McMath, 28, is charged with one felony count of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm to a person over 60. McMath is also charged with misdemeanor retail theft.

McMath was arrested Saturday afternoon in the 2000 block of North Milwaukee Avenue after he allegedly entered a store and ran out without paying for a pair of shoes. After he was placed in custody, McMatch was later recognized by the arresting officer as the man who punched a 67-year-woman in the eye around noon June 15, in the 1500 block of West Jarvis Avenue, CPD said. The woman suffered traumatic eye injuries.
