Oak Lawn Police Focus On Seat Belt Violations During Memorial Day Weekend
Oak Lawn police officers will conduct high-visibility enforcement focusing on seat belt violations during the Memorial Day holiday weekend.
OAK LAWN, IL—The “zero excuses” Click It or Ticket 2026 campaign is now underway in Oak Lawn for the Memorial Day weekend. The Oak Lawn Police Department will be paying extra attention to roadways and streets for seatbelt scofflaws, as well as impaired and distracted drivers, through May 26.
Officers will conduct high-visibility enforcement day and night, focusing on seat belt violations. Motorists who fail to buckle up can expect to be stopped and ticketed.
Illinois law requires all drivers and passengers to wear seat belts. While usage has increased to 93 percent in 2025, unrestrained fatalities remain a concern, especially at night.
