2 Charged After Being Found In Stolen Oak Park Car: Cops

A man from Chicago's West Town neighborhood and a juvenile were found in possession of a stolen vehicle, police said.

OAK PARK, IL — Two people are accused of driving a car that was stolen at gunpoint Sunday in Oak Park, police said. The vehicle was stolen in the 600 block of Humphrey Avenue at about 6:18 a.m., according to police.

Jaylin M. Johnson, 18, of Chicago's West Town neighborhood, was charged with criminal trespass to a motor vehicle, police said. A juvenile was charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle. Both have not been connected to the carjacking, but the investigation is ongoing.

An Oak Park resident was sitting in a 2018 Kia Forte on Humphrey Avenue, when a suspect jumped out of a white SUV and opened the driver's door, police said. The suspect pulled out a handgun and demanded property, according to police.

The driver got out of the car and the gunman stole the vehicle, police said. The white SUV also took off.

The Kia was found Tuesday in the 3600 block of West Fillmore Street in Chicago's Homan Square neighborhood, police said.
