2018 Volunteer Meet&Match

THis year Volunteer Meet&Match is at West Cook YMCA

Looking for an opportunity to volunteer?

Come to this year’s Volunteer Meet and Match event hosted by the West Cook YMCA on Wednesday, April 18 2018, 4-8 pm. This event is during National Volunteer Week to help volunteers connect with local nonprofits that address the causes they care for. The Oak Park-River Forest Community Foundation developed this event together with the West Cook YMCA, Housing Forward, Hunger Walkathon CROP Walk, Oak Park Public Library; Pro Bono Network; Triton College; Symphony of Oak Park and River Forest, and Ten Thousand Villages.

Forty-six nonprofits have registered for the event and are seeking volunteers. Volunteers in Oak Park, River Forest and surrounding areas including, Austin, Forest Park, Elmwood Park, Maywood, Berwyn and Cicero and beyond are encouraged to participate in this special event.

Last year’s event was a great success! 44 organizations discussed their mission, work and needs with more than 320 potential volunteers.

Kathy Berousek says during last year’s event, “ I walked around and spoke to representatives from different organizations, picked up the brochures and read them at home. I knew I wanted to work with kids; I have a background in teaching so Cluster Tutoring Program was on the top of my list. When I went to the Cluster orientation and heard the speakers and past volunteers speak, I knew this was the place for me. I have enjoyed these past six months of working with a wonderful fourth grade girl who is very motivated to be the best she can be!”

Animal Care League recruited 5 new volunteers and offered them opportunities that fit with their skills. Kate Rieke says the 2017 Meet & Match was by far the most successful recruitment fair the Animal Care League have participated in!

The event is free. Walk-ins are welcomed but registration will help match your interests and skills with more than 40 community organizations that can benefit from your service.
