“The benefits of the Community Challenge were twofold – as it allowed customers to participate in raising funds for ‘greening’ efforts at local non-profit organizations while also making their own homes and businesses more energy efficient,” said Beth Reese, president of Nicor Gas.
The nonprofit organizations will now work with the Nicor Gas Energy Efficiency Program to apply the prize funds toward energy efficiency projects and improvements at its facility.

“We hope to continue working towards an even greater reduction in overall energy use in our community and an increase in financial savings for our residents and businesses," Oak Park Village President Anan Abu-Taleb said.
Improving the energy efficiency of homes and businesses means less energy is required to maintain a comfortable environment – and reducing energy consumption can help save money.
