3 Running Cars Stolen Over Weekend In Oak Park: Cops

Police say one of the cars was later found in Chicago.

OAK PARK, IL --- Thieves in Oak Park stole three running cars within a matter of as many days, according to a police report. The incidents took place from Nov. 16 and Nov. 18 in the 600 block of Madison, the 600 block of South Boulevard, and the 1200 block of Rossell.

The first vehicle theft took place Friday in the 600 block of Madison. The victim told police they had left their 2008 silver Ford Escape running and unlocked momentarily around 6:46 p.m. when someone got into the car and drove off. The loss was valued at $6,000.

Later that day, a running black 2017 Nissan Rogue was stolen from the 600 block of South Boulevard. Police say the victim left the car unlocked and unattended between 10:40 p.m. and 10:43 p.m. and that the car was stolen in that timeframe. The stolen car was later found in Chicago.

A third vehicle that was left running was stolen on Sunday in the 1200 block of Rossell. According to police, a silver Toyota Sienna was left running, unlocked, and unattended around 6:30 p.m. when someone got into the car and fled. Police say a small blue or black four-door car was trailing the stolen vehicle.
