The sale runs Saturday, May 16, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the DuPage Event Center and Fairgrounds, Gate S3, 2015 Manchester Road in Wheaton. Shoppers can browse more than 170 types of native flowers, grasses, shrubs, and trees, with plant experts on hand to offer tips and recommendations. Admission is free, and the sale is rain or shine.

Tour private Frank Lloyd Wright-era homes in Oak Park

For architecture fans, Oak Park is the place to be this weekend. Wright Plus Architectural Housewalk returns Saturday, May 16, offering interior tours of private residences designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and his contemporaries.

This is one of those classic Oak Park events that reminds you why people fall hard for the near west suburbs: beautiful homes, tree-lined streets, historic details, and that “oh no, now I’m emotionally attached to leaded glass” feeling.

Take the kids to the Stickney Water Reclamation Plant Open House

For something a little different, the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District is hosting an open house at the Stickney Water Reclamation Plant in Cicero on Saturday, May 16, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with the last tour beginning at 2 p.m. Visitors can learn how wastewater is transformed and returned to the environment as clean water.
