After Departure, Oak Park Township Looks to Fill Vacancy
Abrupt resignation leaves board spot open.

The resignation of Oak Park Township Trustee Lee Callaway has left a vacancy on the township's board of trustees.
Callaway tendered his resignation to township director David Boulanger on Tuesday. He's moving to Atlanta to take a marketing position with AT&T.
Callaway, an appointed township collector since 2008, was elected to the township's trustee position in the April 2009 consolidated elections. In that role, he served as a liaison to the township's Youth Services committee.

"I have truly enjoyed my tenure as Collector and, later as a Trustee and, will hold memories of our wonderful meetings, discussions, debates, parades, town halls and elections close to my heart," Callaway wrote in his resignation letter. "As my family begins the next chapter of its journey to Atlanta I believe that Oak Park and all of its services have established a strong foundation for us."
Now, township officials are sending word out to residents interested in looking to fill the vacant spot. Trustees are part of the township's five-person board — comprised of four trustees and township supervisor David Boulanger — that meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month.

The term ends in May 2013.

Here's what's desired: According to Morgan, "knowledge of Township mission, goals, policies and programs; volunteer experience with the Township, especially on youth or senior advisory committees or the Community Mental Health Board; and adding diversity to the Board."
Applications are due Friday, May 6. They're available at the Oak Park Township office, 105 S. Oak Park Ave. Anyone interested in learning more is asked to call (708) 383-8005 or visit the township's official website.
