ALZHEIMER'S FOUNDATION CARES AFFILIATE OFFICE HAS ALZHEIMER'S/DEMENTIA RESOURCE CENTER

Senior Helpers is the Chicago-area Cares Affiliate Office for the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America
If you have a loved one struggling with Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s or another form of dementia and you would like to know more about helping them, the Northbrook Senior Helpers office is an important resource for you.
“ Our office has a lending library and Alzheimer’s and dementia materials that can provide support for you,” says Bob Tucker, a qualified dementia care provider (QDCP), and co-owner of Senior Helpers serving the north and northwest suburbs.
In our resource center, there are recommended books, magazines, DVDs, articles flyers and medical equipment resources. An appointment isn’t necessary to stop in and review the information that is available. All the materials are offered at no cost to everyone in Chicago.
You are also welcome to arrange an appointment to discuss your concerns about your loved one and discuss other services that we have available from a free Initial Memory Screening, to short-term care and long-term, full or part-time in-home care schedules. “Our helpers can provide transportation, housekeeping, laundry, medicine reminders and loving companionship and assist with walking, bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding and more,” explained Tucker.
In addition, there is the free Teepa Snow 45-minute award-winning DVD providing an entirely new perspective on Alzheimer’s and dementia care. This DVD provides extensive information on how best to communicate with people suffering from dementia, plan productive activities and create the best physical environment for your loved one.
Senior Helpers also has information on Veteran’s Pensions that are available to qualifying vets.
