The Book Table, Oak Park’s local independent bookstore presents a special evening with Jack Bishop, discussing America’s Test Kitchen’s first ever vegetarian cookbook. This ticketed event will take place Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at 7:30pm at the Lake Theatre at 1022 Lake Street in Oak Park.
The 700+ inspired recipes in The Complete Vegetarian Cookbook show you inventive and uncomplicated techniques for making satisfying and boldly flavorful vegetarian recipes. Whether you are a committed vegetarian or want to try to eat less meat, you’ll find healthful, big-flavor options here for appetizers, soups and stews, main dishes, pasta, side dishes, and more. Stunning savory tarts, veggie burgers you’ll really want to eat, inventive casseroles, and re-imagined international favorites make it easy to put vegetables front and center in your diet every day of the week.
Of the 709 total recipes, 300 are fast (start to finish in 45 minutes or less), 500 are gluten-free, and 250 are vegan. The recipes in this comprehensive collection show you inventive and uncomplicated techniques for making boldly flavored main dishes, appetizers, soups and stews, pasta, pizzas, and more. Discover vegetarian makeovers of classic comfort food like Mushroom Bolognese (a combination of cremini and dried porcini mushrooms, soy sauce, and tomato paste replicate the meaty complexity of traditional Bolognese) and creative recipes like Sweet Potato and Swiss Chard Gratin (earthy Swiss chard sautéed with shallot, garlic, and butter is the perfect foil for the sweet spuds).
This will be Bishop’s third time being hosted by The Book Table. Always a delightful and charismatic speaker, Bishop will discuss the new book, take audience questions, and sign copies of The Complete Vegetarian Cookbook.
