• Once again, OPRF pushes pool, gym opening back (oakpark.com) — Construction delays at Oak Park and River Forest High School mean the new pool won't open until Nov. 1 and the third-floor gym still has no firm date, pushing PE classes and girls' teams into temporary spaces. The rest of the $102 million Project 2 wing is now expected to open Oct. 1, after humidity and regulatory issues slowed work and forced another ribbon-cutting postponement.
• Enriching a community: Meal by meal & (art) piece by piece (oakpark.com subscription) — Oak Park nonprofit Beyond Hunger is transforming a former North Avenue grocery store into its new permanent headquarters and food pantry, and local teens have already brightened the site with a five-panel mosaic mural. Young artists from the Oak Park Area Arts Council's Off the Wall program created "Gathering Together," celebrating community food access, gardens, and shared meals while showcasing Oak Park's growing public art scene.
