Attempted Child Luring Reported On West Side
A man tried to lure a girl in the Austin neighborhood, police said.
OAK PARK, IL — A man tried to lure an 11-year-old girl Thursday in Chicago's Austin neighborhood on the West Side, police said. The suspect was inside a vehicle in the 300 block of South Lavergne, when he asked the girl for her name and motioned for her to come over to him, police warned in a community alert.
The man asked the girl where she was going and for her phone number, police said.
The girl then ran south in fear, according to police.

The description of the suspect was vague — a black man between 50 and 60 years old with grey hair. He was driving a blue van, police said.
