Berwyn Man Killed In Home Invasion

Investigators are searching for three suspects, Berwyn police said.

OAK PARK, IL — A man has died after a home invasion Thursday night in Berwyn. Police are searching for three suspects.

Officers responded to a call in the 1800 block of Clinton Avenue just before 9 p.m, Berwyn police said. Upon their arrival, 19-year-old man told them three armed suspects came into his home and put him in the basement, separating him from his stepfather. The 19-year-old was able to escape out of a window and run to his neighbor's house for help, police said.

The officers found 57-year-old Juan Torres unconscious and bleeding. He was taken to Loyola Medical Center in Maywood, where he later died from his injuries. An autopsy was scheduled for Friday.

The 19-year-old suffered an injury to his mouth and was bleeding.

The suspects were not found inside the home. Investigators do not believe the home invasion was random.
