Bridgett Baron Seeks Election to Oak Park Village Board

If Elected to One of Three Open Trustee Seats, 24-Year Resident Would Bring Balanced, Independent, Fact-Driven Approach

Pledging an independent, balanced and informed approach to issues, longtime resident Bridgett Baron has announced her candidacy for the Oak Park Village Board of Trustees.

“The Village Board faces many difficult choices,” said Baron. “I am an advocate for sensible leadership. Our resources are finite, and we need to balance our wants with limiting the financial burden on taxpayers.”

The seven-member Village Board has three open seats in the April 2, 2019 election. The deadline for candidates to file all the necessary paperwork, including nominating petitions, is December 17th.

Through her civic engagement over the past five-plus years, Baron has developed a reputation as an intelligent and thoughtful voice of reason.

“We need to look at issues through a lens of effectiveness and impact,” Baron said. “We can’t do everything, and good intentions aren’t enough. As trustee, I would carefully examine each issue with a critical eye, weighing the costs, impact, and alignment with our community’s broader goals.”

For over 20 years, Baron has worked in the television and motion picture industry. Her finance-centric responsibilities include stewarding large budgets, over $1 million per week, while interacting with hundreds of people across numerous departments.

“In my work, I must continually keep the big picture in mind—all the moving parts that are behind the scenes—while also paying close attention to details,” said Baron. “Navigating on the micro- and macro-levels, while fostering constructive dialogue, is an essential skill for a trustee.”

“Oak Park is at a crossroads,” Baron added. “The community needs bold leadership that honors our inclusive and innovative heritage while continuing to explore creative ways to attract residents and businesses well into the future.”

Baron and her husband, Matt, have resided in Oak Park since 1994. They have two children who attend Oak Park and River Forest High School. Matt serves on OPRF’s District 200 School Board.

A native of Chicago, Baron is a graduate of Northwestern University’s School of Speech. Her campaign website, which includes more detail about her views, is at www.bridgettbaron.com.
