Burglar Breaks Car Window With Rock, Steals Purse In Oak Park

OAK PARK, IL — A burglar used a rock to shatter a car window in Oak Park and steal valuables from inside the vehicle Monday afternoon, according to police. The burglary took place in the 100 block of S. Oak Park Ave. sometime between 12:15 p.m. and 12:30 p.m., when the car was left briefly unattended, police say.

The rock was used to break the car's driver's side window, police say. The victim told police the suspect stole their black Karl Lagerfeld purse, which contained a white Apple iPhone 8, cash, and credit cards.

The total amount of loss and damages was estimated at $1,000.
