Car, Home Burglarized In Oak Park: Police

OAK PARK, IL — Police are investigating two separate burglaries that took place in Oak Park between Tuesday and Wednesday. A home was burglarized in the 100 block of Elmwood Ave. and a car was burglarized in the 900 block of S. Oak Park Ave.

Police say the home burglary took place sometime between 1 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. Wednesday. The victim told police someone got into their garage by way of an unlocked service door. Once inside, the suspect or suspects stole a black Trek Antelope bicycle, a silver Gary Fisher bicycle, and a pink Schwinn bike. The total estimated loss is $1,500.

An unlocked car was also burglarized sometime between 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to police. The suspect or suspects took a black leather wallet that contained cash, credit cards, and a Chase bank checkbook. The total loss was estimated at $120.
