Carjackers Can't Start Car; Juvenile Arrested In Oak Park: Cops

Police say they think the carjackers were unable to start both cars they targeted.

OAK PARK, IL — A juvenile is in custody after he was allegedly involved in two failed carjacking attempts in Oak Park after the targeted cars wouldn't start Thursday evening. Police say the incidents took place around 5:30 p.m. in the 800 block of Belleforte and then in the 1200 block of Columbian Ave.

The victims told police they had been approached by two suspects, one armed with a handgun, who demanded their car keys. Police say they believe the suspects were unable to start both cars.

Police caught up to the suspects after a tip from a resident who reported seeing them get into a silver Honda Civic. Chicago Police spotted the car in the 1000 block of N. Karlov and were able to connect one suspect to the Oak Park carjackings and other alleged carjacking in Chicago.
