Carjacking Reported in Oak Park

Police investigating allegations of daytime attack.

Police in Oak Park are investigating a report of a broad daylight armed carjacking that took place on Madison Street. 

A 44-year-old man Oak Park man reported to police he was approached sometime between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Monday by an armed man near Madison Street and Austin Boulevard, according to a police report.

The man told police another man aimed a handgun at him and "forced" him into the driver's seat of his own car, a Ford Focus with temporary tags, before the pair drove away together.

Oak Park police were tight-lipped about the case, but said the incident and the police report — filed a day after the alleged carjacking — remain under investigation.
