Classically inspired jazz at Church of Beethoven-Oak Park
Hear Zvonimir Tot's Jazz Stringtet Sunday, Oct. 16 at Open Door Theater

Church of Beethoven, Oak Park's intimate monthly classical music series, presents Classically inspired guitarist Zvonimir Tot and his fabulous Jazz Stringtet at the Open door theater in Oak Park, Sunday Oct. 16.
Zvonimir Tot (z-VON-e-mere TOTE) is a Chicago-based jazz guitarist, composer and arranger with a style deeply rooted in the jazz tradition but flavored by his European origin. Tot has performed in the United States, the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Portugal, Hungary, Serbia, the Czech Republic, Romania, and Croatia.
"When he improvises, Zvonimir evidences many things, from the intensity of a conservatory virtuoso to the serene patience of a Zen guru, and always, the love of lore that characterizes griots and troubadours the world over," wrote jazz critic Neil Tesser, author of Playboy Guide to Jazz.

Zvonimir Tot's Jazz Stringtet performs original music composed by guitarist Tot. Stylistically, the music is a jazz-classical crossover. The group's aim is to achieve the harmonic richness of a string orchestra while retaining the rhythmic agility of a chamber ensemble. The members are first-call Chicago string players.
