Community Forum with Mayor Anan Abu-Taleb

Oak Park Mayor Anan Abu-Taleb invites all Village residents to a Community Forum on Tuesday, December 13, 2016.

Oak Park Mayor Anan Abu-Taleb invites all Village residents
to a Community Forum on Tuesday, December 13,2016 from 7:00 to 8:30
p.m. at the Veteran’s Room of Oak Park’s main library, 834 Lake Street.

“It has been some time since we have held a community forum,” Abu-Taleb
said. “I look forward to these forums as a meaningful opportunity to
have a real conversation with Oak Park residents, something that is not
really possible at Village board meetings.

Joining Abu-Taleb will be Carolyn Newberry Schwartz, Director of the
Oak Park Collaboration for Early Childhood. “The Collaboration for Early
Childhood works with more than 60 organizations and with all sectors of
our community to ensure that every child enter kindergarten safe,
healthy, eager to learn and ready to succeed.”

Newberry Schwartz also noted that if we do not pay attention to the early childhood years
of our students, then maintaining excellence at our elementary and
secondary schools is like trying to build a world class building
starting on the 6th floor.

Added Abu-Taleb: “The Collaboration serves an important function in
our diverse community, working across allgoverning bodies and with
parents and early learning providers to help our children learn and
grow.”

“We have held these forums periodically over the last
three and a half years,” said Abu-Taleb. “These community conversations
with thoughtful and engaged fellow residents help me do my job as mayor
better.”

Please join this ongoing community conversation, and invite your friends and neighbors!
