District 90 Announces Martha Ryan-Toye's Departure and New Position
District 90's Director of Student Services Becomes Superintendent of Riverside District 96
Superintendent Ed Condon announced today that after more than two decades of dedicated and outstanding service, Martha Ryan-Toye, Director of Student Services, is leaving District 90 to become the Superintendent of Riverside School District 96. She will assume her new post on July 1, 2016.
“Martha has been an incredible asset to District 90 over her many years of service,” said Dr. Condon. “She has earned the trust and confidence of parents, faculty, and staff, as well as our Village’s public officials,” he continued. “But I must admit that her leaving is a bit bittersweet: This is a great professional move for Martha, as it leverages her experience and affection for students. But it is also a loss for District 90 and for our administrative team,” Dr. Condon continued. “Martha is a valued leader who is energetic and passionate about advancing the education and social/emotional experiences for all students.”
Martha Ryan-Toye began working in District 90 as a Special Education Coordinator 22 years ago, shortly after earning her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Northwestern University. She quickly expanded her student support efforts by serving as Director of Special Education before assuming the position of Director of Student Services in 2010. Ms. Ryan-Toye commented that “while I’m very excited about moving to Riverside District 96, I will miss my many colleagues and friends in District 90. It will be difficult to say goodbye to such a special group of people who, in many ways, have become members of my family,” she continued. Because the Riverside community is not that far away, I expect to continue to see my District 90 colleagues and River Forest friends.

As the Superintendent of Riverside School District 96, Ms. Ryan-Toye will oversee four pre-K through fifth grade schools and one junior high school (sixth through eighth grade) that supports nearly 1,700 students and consists of 255 employees. Riverside District 96 is governed by a publicly-elected Board of Education.
Dr. Condon stated that a search for Ms. Ryan-Toye’s successor will begin immediately. School ExecConnect, a local school executive search firm, will help facilitate the selection process. The goal is to have someone selected for the position and in place by July 1, 2016. “As with all of our vacancies, we will be looking for an individual who has a great deal of expertise, a strong background, and is the best fit for our school system and our community,” he explained. District 90 families will receive periodic updates to keep them apprised about the progress of the search, explained Dr. Condon.
