District 97 Offers Free Home Internet For Students In Need

Oak Park School District 97 will provide eligible students with a wireless hotspot and will cover the monthly cost of internet services.

OAK PARK, IL — Oak Park Elementary School District 97 is doing its part to make sure that students have access to the internet when they are not in school. District officials recently announced that they will provide a free WiFi hotspot and coverage for internet costs to eligible students who do not have internet access.

The program, which comes through a partnership with Digital Wish and Mobile Beacon, was started to "help increase student access to valuable online learning resources, while also bridging the digital divide and ensuring greater educational equity," officials said in a statement.

To be eligible for the Internet for All program, families must:

  • Have at least one student enrolled in third through eighth grade in a District 97 School who participates in the iLearn program
  • Be enrolled in the National Free/Reduced Lunch Program
  • Not have home internet access at the time
