District Kitchen & Tap Set To Open Soon In Oak Park
District Kitchen & Tap, from the team behind Scratch Kitchen, is set to open in the Harrison and Harvey building later this year.

OAK PARK, IL — The Oak Park Village Council is poised to approve a liquor license Monday for the newest inventive eatery from the team behind Scratch Kitchen. District Kitchen & Tap had been set to open Oct. 31 in the 200 block of Harrison in the Oak Park Arts District, but now the restaurant is aiming to open later this year. It will occupy a prime spot in the recently revamped Harrison and Harvey building, which also houses Happy Apple Pie Shop, another foodie favorite.
In August, restaurateur Patrick O'Brien teased a video of a wood-fire pizza oven to a Facebook page for District Kitchen & Tap with the hashtag #woodfiredpizza. Artisanal pizzas will be just one of the items diners can get made-to-order when the new restaurant opens with a menu that focuses on shareable eats.
O'Brien told Oak Park Wednesday Journal in June that District Kitchen & Tap will also serve up custom wings slathered in house-made sauces and salads that are served on seasoned pizza crust. Diners can wash down dinner with their choice of local and imported brews as they watch a ball game or hang out for a night of live poetry, O'Brien told Chicago Tribune.
