District Superintendent's Grandson Killed in Missouri Double Shooting

Dr. Joylynn Pruitt-Adams and her family ask for privacy in the wake of this tragedy.

OAK PARK, IL — The grandson of Oak Brook-River Forest High School Superintendent Joylynn Pruitt-Adams has died following a double shooting in University City, Missouri. He was 17. Patch sends its sympathies to Superintendent Pruitt-Adams and her family.

According to St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the University City shooting took place around 10:30 a.m. Police are still looking for two suspects who drove off in a dark sedan. There was no known motive. Pruitt-Adams' grandson, Taylor Simpson, 17, was a junior at Lieberman Learning Center, which is less than a mile from where the shooting took place, St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. The shooting comes days before a student-inspired summit on gun violence had been scheduled to take place. It has now been postponed.

We have been deeply saddened to learn that yesterday, District 200 Superintendent Dr. Joylynn Pruitt-Adams lost her beloved 17-year-old grandson during a shooting in University City, Mo. Our thoughts and prayers are with Dr. Pruitt-Adams and her family, who have requested that their privacy be respected during this difficult time.
