Documentary Filmed At OPRF High School To Premiere On STARZ

Indiewire called the docuseries a "vital piece of cultural commentary."

OAK PARK, IL — A documentary series filmed at Oak Park-River Forest High School three years ago is set to host a public screening at Lake Theatre before it premieres on STARZ in late August. "America to Me," which followed the lives of OPRF High School students and staff explores the challenges faced by teens at the famously diverse high school.

The sold-out screening, set for Monday, August 18 at 7 p.m., includes a panel discussion that features "America To Me" director Steve James, OPRF High School District 200 Superintendent Joylynn Pruitt-Adams, current OPRF High School faculty, and former students. The discussion will be moderated by WBEZ's Steve Edwards.

In the 10-part "America To Me" docuseries is produced by Diane Weyermann, Justine Nagan, Betsy Steinberg, Gordon Quinn, and Jeff Skoll. Individually, members of the production team has worked on such award-winning films as "An Inconvenient Truth" and "Lincoln."

The first episode of "America To Me" will debut on STARZ at 9 p.m. on August 26. The remaining air dates are as follows:

  • Episode 2: Sept. 2 at 9 p.m.
  • Episode 3: Sept. 9 at 9 p.m.
  • Episode 4: Sept. 16 at 8 p.m.
  • Episode 5: Sept. 23 at 8 p.m.
  • Episode 6: Sept. 30 at 8 p.m.
  • Episode 7: Oct. 7 at 8 p.m.
  • Episode 8: Oct. 14 at 8 p.m.
  • Episode 9: Oct. 21 at 8 p.m.
  • Episode 10: Oct. 28 at 8 p.m.
