Dominican University Presents Anatomy of Violence Lecture

Renowned Academics Adrian Raine and Tobias Winright to discuss the biological roots of crime on Thursday, November 13, Dominican University

Dominican University’s Siena Center will host the Albertus Magnus Lecture at 7 p.m. Thursday, November 13, in the Auditorium on Dominican’s Priory Campus, 7200 West Division Street, River Forest. The lecture, titled “Anatomy of Violence: The Biological Roots of Crime,” will be given by Adrian Raine with Tobias Winright.

Neuroscience is increasingly documenting brain impairments in adolescent and adult offenders. This lecture will explore the neuro-ethical implications of this knowledge for our core human values of responsibility and free will, and how it should be used in the future to predict, prevent and punish offending.

Raine, university professor and the Richard Perry Professor of criminology, psychiatry and psychology at the University of Pennsylvania, has published five books and some 300 journal articles and book chapters, and has given more than 200 invited presentations in 25 countries.
