Dominican University ranked in top 20 by US News & World Report

Dominican University is ranked in the top 20 of Midwest master's level universities, as well as a "best value" by US News & World Report.

Dominican University is included in the top 20 Midwest level master’s level universities in the 2015 edition of U.S. News & World Report. The influential annual report has ranked Dominican in the top tier of master’s level Midwest universities for the past 17 years.

In addition, the publication ranks Dominican as the top value in the State of Illinois in the Best Regional (Midwest) Universities category. Dominican has been considered one of the publication’s top 10 “Great Schools at Great Prices” in the Midwest region for the past decade. This recognition is especially important at a time when the cost of higher education and student indebtedness continue to be hot topics in the media.

The annual examination of nearly 1,800 accredited American colleges and universities, based on categories created by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, has become one of the mist comprehensive tools for students and families considering higher education opportunities across the country.

The report measures several factors to determine an institution’s rank, including peer assessment, SAT/ACT scores, student retention, student/faculty ratio, student selectivity, and alumni giving rate.

Dominican was also listed as an “A+ School for B Students,” a designation that indicates the transformational experience that many Dominican students have during their college years.

In addition to the US News & World Report, Dominican was ranked by The Washington Monthly as one of the Midwest master’s level universities offering the “Best Bang for the Buck.” The magazine measures the number of students receiving Pell grants, graduation rates, loan default rates and net tuition. Dominican is also included in the 2014-2015 Colleges of Distinction guide as an excellent comprehensive liberal arts school.

Founded in 1901, Dominican University is a comprehensive, Catholic institution offering bachelor’s degrees in 50 programs as well as master’s degrees through the Graduate School of Library and Information Science, the Brennan School of Business, the School of Education, the Graduate School of Social Work and the School of Professional and Continuing Studies. The university also offers a doctoral degree in library and information science.
