Easter Fire Kills Man, Displaces Families In Oak Park

Police say one man is dead and multiple people are without homes after the Easter Sunday fire.

OAK PARK, IL — A man is dead and several families are displaced from their homes after a fire tore through a condominium in Oak Park Easter morning. The fire broke just before 9:30 a.m. in the 300 block of Wisconsin, village officials.

When emergency crews got to the scene, they found the man unresponsive in a second-floor condo and were unable to revive him.

Authorities have yet to release the man's identity as they wait to notify next of kin. Police say the Office of the State Fire Marshal is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
