'Empire' Puts Berwyn In The Spotlight
'Empire' is using the Berwyn city council chambers to film an episode that will air on November 8.
BERWYN, IL — The Berwyn City Council chambers will be able to add the famous Fox TV show 'Empire' to its acting resume. The show began filming in Berwyn on Sept. 6 and 7 and plans to finish shooting an episode Sept. 18 at the city council chambers at 6700 27th St.
The city rushed to renovate the council chambers ahead of filming, according to My Suburban Life, which reports that the city spent roughly $30,000 to make the interior of the chambers resemble "a classic courtroom."
Unfortunately, eager fans who are hoping to spot stars from the show won't be able to attend the filming, since it is closed to the public. According to the city's Facebook page, parking will be limited while 'Empire' is filming at the Berwyn City council chambers. There will be no parking from 10 p.m. Sept. 17 until 6 a.m. Sept. 19. on the south side of 26th St. between East and Wesley Ave. or on the south side of 28th Street between Oak Park and East Ave. During these times, diagonal parking will also be prohibited between Home Ave. and Maple Ave.

Parking will also be prohibited from 6a.m. Sept. 15 until 1 p.m. on September 19 on the south side of 26th St. between Euclid Ave. and Wesley Ave.
The award-winning 'Empire' stars Taraji P. Henson and Oscar nominee Terrence Howard.
