Enjoy “The Good Life with Barb Bailey” at the Eastgate on Oct. 4
Barb Bailey sings a tribute to her Life
"When I was a baby, I was found in a cardboard box inside the front door of the Tally Ho Apartment Bldg. in Wheeling, West Virginia. The Medical Examiner determined my age to be a week to 10 days old and … I became a headline story in the Wheeling News Register as The Tally Ho Baby!”
Thus, begins the true life story of Barb Bailey, one of the most talented and successful jazz singers and promoters in Chicago as told to voyagechicago.com. Adopted by an attorney, George Bailey and his loving wife, Lu, Barb’s happy childhood was filled with love of family, acting and music. After graduating from Michigan State University, she went on to work for some of the most powerful people in the recording industry, connecting with the top movers and shakers in the field of entertainment.
So, perhaps it was only natural in addition to pursuing a career as an entertainer, writer and producer, Barb would become one of the most successful promoters and agents for musical performers in Chicago. She represents pop, jazz, R&B, classical, rock and tribute acts through her national management company Barb Bailey Entertainment.

Barb “discovered” the Eastgate Café, 102 Harrison St., Oak Park, IL when she came to hear Wayne Powers perform there for his Chicago debut last Spring. Like Wayne, she recognized that the room was perfect for vocalists and musicians who enjoy connecting with their audiences. And the delicious food and full bar made it worth a visit on its own.
Now the Eastgate Café is honored to present the versatile and dynamic Barb Bailey, accompanied by Doug Lalli on piano and Dan DeLorenzo on string bass on Friday, October 4. Barb will not only sing favorites from the Great American Songbook, but share highlights of her colorful life and successful career in the warm and friendly intimacy of the Eastgate Café.
