Prairie-Style Gingerbread House Workshop

It's a holiday tradition! Join us for our 4th annual gingerbread workshop for kids in grades 2—6.

Cantilevered roofs, horizontal lines, organic architecture, leaded glass windows...these are just a few of the phrases you hear about the Prairie Style homes designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, Oak Park's famous architect. In this workshop, kids will learn to use Frank Lloyd Wright's signature construction methods to create their very own gingerbread structures. Warm-up includes a Froebel Block workshop, a tour of Unity Temple, and a discussion of Wright's architecture with two architects. This workshop is beginner-level. No previous art-making experience is necessary.
