Dominican University will host Bruce Schneier, an internationally respected security expert and author of the recently published book Liars and Outliers, for a discussion on Tuesday, March 27, at 7:00 p.m. in the Social Hall on the university’s Main Campus, 7900 Division Street, River Forest.
Known for his refreshingly candid and lucid views, Schnieier has written several books on security and is a sought-after commentator on issues of cyber, personal and national security. His first bestseller, Applied Cryptography, explained the methodology of secret codes used and deciphered by groups such as the National Security Agency. His other books include Secrets and Lies, on computer and network security; Beyond Fear, on personal safety and crime; and Schneier on Security, which takes a wide view of security issues in today’s world.
His latest book, Liars and Outliers, is a philosophical look at the role of trust in society. Forbes says of the book, “Schneier’s book serves as an excellent primer on game theory” which “teaches us that perfect security is an illusion.”
