
Internationally-recognized experts on teacher effectiveness to address legislators in Oak Park Tuesday
WHAT: A presentation for legislators and colleagues on the timely topic of teacher effectiveness from leading experts in the field including the creator of the proposed default model for evaluating teachers in Illinois. Approximately 400 people are expected to attend.

WHO: Charlotte Danielson is an internationally-recognized expert in the area of teacher effectiveness, specializing in the design of teacher evaluation systems that ensure teacher quality and promote professional learning. Her “Danielson Framework for Teaching” has been proposed as the default model for evaluating teachers in Illinois making it especially relevant as our state moves to implement groundbreaking education reforms based on teacher performance. She advises state and national departments of education, both in the United States and overseas.
Sara Ray Stoelinga, Ph.D. is the Senior Director at the Urban Education Institute and an Associate Clinical Professor in the Committee on Education at the University of Chicago. Her presentation will summarize findings from research conducted on a pilot of a new teacher evaluation system in Chicago Public Schools, highlighting lessons learned about the use of Charlotte Danielson’s Framework for Teaching and the process of revitalizing teacher evaluation systems in Illinois school districts.
