Tennis Tournament to Benefit Loyola's Children's Hospital

Loyola University Health System will host its fourth annual tennis tournament at the Oak Park Tennis Club in support of clinical research for children. The yearly event raises money for research efforts at the Ronald McDonald Children’s Hospital at Loyola University Medical Center.

“This event brings together tennis enthusiasts and the Loyola family to enjoy an afternoon of fun and competitive tennis at the wonderful outdoor clay courts at the Oak Park Tennis Club,” said Neeru Jayanthi, MD, event organizer and medical director of primary care sports medicine.

The event is a team round robin tournament that has two divisions: a junior/competitive division and an adult/recreational division. This type of tournament guarantees participants play all afternoon, but space is limited to 70 players.

“In addition to supporting research, this event helps bring awareness to the many services and leading-edge care provided by Loyola physicians and specialists,” said Jerold Stirling, MD, event organizer and professor and Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine.

Trophies will be given to the winning teams. Light refreshments will be served and tennis balls and T-shirts will be provided.

“The event allows people of all ages and skill levels to participate and support an excellent cause,” said Jayanthi.
