Find Good Folks, Good Music at Oak Park Public Library this Spring

Join us for a lively series of free folk music concerts this spring at the Oak Park Public Library. All concerts start at 7 pm in the Main Library Veterans Room, 834 Lake St.

Monday, March 2, 2015, 7-9 pm
Debra Cowan and John Roberts

John Roberts and Debra Cowan have been performing their eclectic mix of traditional and contemporary songs for the last five years in both the United States and the United Kingdom. They share an enthusiasm and passion for the old songs and ballads that have been handed down through the oral tradition in the English-speaking world. Even though their concert will certainly include many traditional songs, they will perform contemporary songs as well, some by writers personally known to both performers. Be prepared to join in and sing along!

Dana and Susan Robinson

Dana and Susan Robinson are two guitar-playing, banjo-frailing, fiddle-sawing, and harmony-singing interpreters of the American experience. Their unique blend of contemporary songwriting and traditional Appalachian music brings a deep understanding of American musical heritage to their performances. They can make the audience howl with laughter or hush with poignant reflection as they take them on a journey across America and convey the mystery and wonder of the places they visit.

Rebecca Folsom

Rebecca Folsom writes inspiring tales of human heartbreak, redemption, and freedom, and she shares those songs with exquisite intimacy in her solo acoustic performances. She has performed, among other places, on BBC Radio and Television in Northern Ireland; on Nashville’s Bluebird Cafe, Opryland, and Tin Pan South stages; and at the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival and Red Rocks Amphitheatre in her home state of Colorado. Her latest CD, “Reunion,” is a fusion of songs, paintings, and poetry that Boulder Magazine described as “achingly beautiful.”
