Firecakes Donuts Opens Newest Location In Oak Park

Firecakes Donuts just opened a new spot at 104 Maple Ave. in Oak Park that serves small batch donuts and fried chicken.

OAK PARK, IL — Firecakes Donuts recently opened its doors in Oak Park to serve up its famously inventive donuts and a new menu with a mouthwatering selection of fried chicken. The new spot is located 104 Maple Ave., (not far from the Harlem and Lake green line stop) and offers dine-in, carryout, and —we hope you're sitting down for this— donut delivery.

Sugar lovers have plenty of donuts to decide from, including triple rich chocolate cake, pistachio old-fashioned, and wildflower honey glazed varieties. There's also a towering birthday cake donut with walls of sprinkles and a chocolate drizzle topping.

Seasonal selections range from the candied pepper maple and bacon long john to the peanut butter and jelly long john. Diners with dietary restrictions can indulge in a gluten free and vegan chocolate donut at Firecakes Donuts, which also has mini donuts if you just want to sate that eager sweet tooth.

The debut fried chicken menu at Firecakes Donuts offers a savory contrast to the sweet treats with items like the maple and bacon slider. This sandwich is made of crispy chicken slathered with bacon and maple cream sauce and served between a sliced wildflower honey glazed donut, Chicago Eater reports.

The eatery's signature donuts are made with a secret recipe that was adapted from an old family recipe crafted by owner Karen Fox's grandfather in the 1930s, according to the Firecakes donuts website. The company won't dish on what makes the donuts so magical, but they do disclose that the irresistible donuts are made with ingredients from local farms.
