Five Cars Burglarized In Oak Park Within 24 Hours: Cops

OAK PARK, IL — Multiple cars were burglarized in Oak Park in a matter of hours, according to a recent police summary. Police say all of the burglaries took place between late Wednesday and early Thursday and many of them were concentrated in the same area.

1100 block of Ontario

Sometime between 7 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. Thursday, a suspect or suspects got into a 2013 Hyundai Elantra via an unlocked door. Once inside, the suspect(s) rifled through the interior of the car, but no items were reported stolen by the victim.

Between 9 p.m. Wednesday and 8:30 a.m. Thursday, another resident in the 1100 block of Ontario told police that their 2003 Nissan Altima had been broken into. Again, the car had been left unlocked and the interior was ransacked, but the victim told police no items were stolen.

200 block of N. Kenilworth

A resident in the 200 block of N. Kenilworth told police that someone burglarized their unlocked 2012 Volkswagen Jetta between 10 p.m. Wednesday and 7 a.m. Thursday. Two Apple iPod Minis were reported stolen from inside the car. The total loss was valued at $100.

Sometime between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m., another resident's 2015 Mazda was burglarized. The victim told police the offender(s) used an unlocked door to get into the car and steal two 5s iPhones and a Nintendo DS with a Legend of Zelda game, along with credit cards and a debit card. The loss was estimated at $380.

500 block of N. Grove

A 2007 Hyundai Sonata was burglarized sometime between 6 p.m. and 9:40 a.m. The victim told police a black iPhone 4s and a green leather case was stolen. The loss was estimated at $100.
