Gathering at the Oak Park Conservatory will again highlight local "food center" projects.

Looking to learn more about the availability of seasonal, local food in and around Oak Park?

Wednesday's follow-up meeting, scheduled for 7-8:30 p.m. at the , comes about two months after an initial grassroots meeting of those involved with, or just curious about, the local food movement.
Discussions at the March 26 meeting included a proposal for a "learning garden," the debut of the Sugar Beet Cooperative and an update on the success of Root Riot community gardens in Oak Park and Chicago's Austin community. Here's a look at the agenda, via Seven Generations Ahead.

PlanItGreen is hosting its 2nd Community Food and GardenForum on Wednesday, May 16 from 7:00-8:30pm at the Oak Park Conservatory. The forum will include:
-a brief overview of PlanItGreen activities
-updates on existing and developing community learning garden and food center projects (Sugar Beet Cooperative, West Cook YMCA, Root Riot and more)
-discussion of other related food/garden projects from the audience
-"open space" breakout discussions to generate ideas around current projects (and newly mentioned projects) and ways to get involved
