Senior Helpers is proud to offer a free Senior Gems ™ DVD entitled: Your Guide to Supporting Family Members with Dementia, featuring Teepa Snow, MS, OTR/L FAOTA, a Alzheimer’s/dementia care and education specialist. This award-winning, highly informative, DVD provides an entirely new perspective on Alzheimer’s and dementia care.
With more than 30 years of experience, Teepa Snow discusses the causes and effects of dementia, the early warning signs and the care options. Her goal is to help guide and support family members caring for a loved one with dementia.
“This DVD provides an overview on the impact of Alzheimer’s and dementia on people and their family,” says Bob Tucker, a qualified dementia care provider (QDCP), co-owner of Senior Helpers serving the north and northwest suburbs. “Teepa Snow also provides many simple techniques that can be used to make a significant difference in people’s lives.”
Snow is an advocate for those living with dementia and helps families and professionals better understand how it feels to be living with these challenges. Her philosophy is based on years of medical research and creating a positive approach to caregiving. Her experience as an occupational therapist and dementia expert and her, clinical appointments to Duke University’s School of Nursing and the University of North Carolina’s School of Medicine have all contributed to her national reputation as one of the country’s foremost educators on this subject.
Snow and Senior Helpers worked closely together to produce this informative, extremely helpful DVD. In addition, the Senior Gems program allows people to understand what stage of dementia a person is in and how to care for the individual at that stage.
“Teepa Snow’s personal mission is to help families and caregivers care for loved ones who are suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia-and she does it so well,” adds Abbie Tucker senior advocate and client services director, certified senior advisor (CSA), a qualified dementia care provider (QDCP) and co-owner of the local Senior Helpers office.
This Senior Helpers location is the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA) affiliate office for the entire Chicago area. They make Alzheimer’s/dementia education programs, consulting and other resources available to those families struggling with dementia.
