Glendale Heights Man Gets Neck Slashed With Broken Beer Bottle In Wedding Reception Brawl: Police
Jeffrey Kerley, 31, is accused of lunging at a 27-year-old Glendale Heights man with a broken beer bottle after a wedding reception.

GLENDALE HEIGHTS, IL — A 27-year-old man from Glendale Heights was airlifted to a hospital with "life-threatening injuries" Friday after an Elgin man used a broken beer bottle to slice his neck at a wedding reception in Harvard. Witnesses told police that Jeffrey Kerley, 31, of Elgin, "lunged" at the Glendale Heights man with a shattered beer bottle, causing a "deep laceration" that ran from the victim's neck to his chest.
Woodstock Police were called to the Best Western Woodstock Inn at 990 Lake Avenue, Woodstock, for a report of multiple people fighting. When police arrived, they say the crowd was in a "heightened, agitated state," according to a release. The Woodstock Fire and Rescue District was called to provide emergency medical care to any injured parties. The injured Glendale Heights man was then transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville by helicopter.
Police said the group had just left a wedding reception in Harvard and had been shuttled to the hotel. Witnesses told police that the initial verbal altercation started at the reception and escalated en route to the hotel.

Police took Jeffrey Kerley into custody and transported him to McHenry County Adult Correctional Facility. He was released Saturday after posting bond. Kerley has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, police said.
The Glendale Heights man who Kerley allegedly attacked was still hospitalized as of Monday.
