Watching these firefighters carry a large, limp dog to the ground outside a burning Oak Park home is heartbreaking — until the man in black turns to face the camera and says, “Ma’am, he’s still alive.”
You can hear as the woman he’s talking to utters a syllable of relief (We feel the same).

The firefighters make quick work of assembling an oxygen tank, designed for pets, to put on Romulus, a full-grown mastiff who weighs more than 100 pounds, according to OakPark.com.
They even give him reassuring head scratches while he breathes into the mask.
The fire broke out March 29 in the 200 block of Pleasant Street, OakPark.com reported, while the homeowners were out of town. Romulus has since been in the care of a local veterinarian.
Firefighters also rescued a host of small animals from the home, including a hedgehog, turtles and fish. Two kittens didn’t survive the fire.
