Irish Dancing Benefit Performance to Raise Funds for Housing Forward
Irish Dance Benefit Performance

On Friday, June 9, the Maiden Street Irish Dance Company will be hosting a benefit dance performance for Housing Forward to help those in the community that are experiencing or at-risk of homelessness. Sarah Dolan, the owner and instructor of Maiden Street is a supporter and current board member of this vital organization that has been on the front lines of ending homelessness. All proceeds from the benefit performance will benefit Housing Forward.
Marking their 25th Anniversary, Housing Forward has advanced into the largest provider of permanent supportive housing and homeless programming in all of suburban Cook County. The agency offers a full continuum of programs designed to prevent and resolve homelessness, as well as address its underlying causes. The past two years have seen incredible growth for Housing Forward. After changing their name, they merged with Prevail in 2015, and last year, Housing Forward was chosen to lead a nine-agency partnership to implement Coordinated Entry, a county-wide system to standardize and expedite the process by which people experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness access shelter, housing and homeless prevention resources. In addition to being the lead implementing and fiscal agent for this project, Housing Forward will also staff and house the Walk-In Center that will serve the West region of the service area.
“I am proud to be organizing this benefit performance with our students in support of Housing Forward’s mission. I hope this will be a true Irish celebration with dance, music and refreshments for children and adults while supporting this very important resource in our community,” says organizer, Sarah Dolan.
