"It Isn't About You"

In life, it's important to be able to distinguish when it's about you and when it isn't….we all know those people who think it is always about them, and, we all know those people who never want it to be about them.  The reality is that in life, sometimes it's about you and sometimes it isn't, and, the more appropriate your judgement is on that point, the better the outcome.

One way you know if it is about you, is when the word "Your" fits in front of it: your work, your day, your job, your body, your birthday, your time, your meeting, your money, your marriage, etc.

Equally so, if "their" goes in front of it, it's not about you: their health, their job, their work, their wedding, their birthday, their money, their time, etc.

As caregiver's, the balance between "your" and "their" is usually tipped towards "their".  A caregiver provides help and protection to someone - it is about "their" needs, but, the balance needs to be struck so that "your" ability to give help and protection can be continued.

Knowing the difference and moving seamlessly between the two makes for better results, relationships, quality of life, events, interactions, etc.

So, before you take action, ask yourself, "Is it about me?"
